With NaMoPaiMo in full swing, people have been really getting into the spirit!
Meanwhile, things here are of to a slow start. To be honest, I haven't begun to paint Amber (Knickers) yet... but I have begun my extras! I have base coated my arab medallion (soon to be a rich dark bay), base coated my stock horse medallion (soon to be silver grulla), and base coated my micro draft. Amber (Knickers) is actually waiting for a larger painting party... or at least until I can gain enough courage to touch her! But I really am having fun practising on these less threatening medallions!
I bought fresh oil paints for this occasion and I have been repeating "Oh boy, I love these
oils" over and over. My boyfriend I think has tuned me out by now. But speaking of him, he understands NaMoPaiMo (and my general love of horses), so he's participating in his own way - putting together and painting his Malifaux models. Sorry guys, I'm disappointed too that he doesn't have any new horses to work on. Here he is working away while I paint. -->
He also runs out to check on the mares once in a while when there is a strange sound on the baby monitor, bless his heart. On that note, no foals yet...
Everything seemed to be running TOO smoothly though. Finally the inevitable happened where my little micro draft tipped off my lazy susan and into a pile of baking soda that I had been using to work on my marwari custom. Yes, he was still wet. Yes I fixed him up good as new... but only for him to fall into the same pile again. Sooooo if anyone has tips on stripping oil paint but leaving primer, that would be great...
That's Mr. Micro before he tipped.
<--
No sweat though, once I get him stripped and back on track, he will be off to the races again to become a Ban'ei racer! I will for sure be writing about how I'll be doing that at a later time!
Happy Painting!
