Since my last post (about the great progress of my NaMoPaiMo stuff), I have only been dabbling lately in my painting. The reason being that I'm just busy with life. But despite my lack of time, I really have been trying to keep up. Oils take so long to dry that I need all the painting time I can get in order to have any hope to finish by the deadline. When I do get to paint though, I'm pretty inspired to keep going (since I'm just doing tiny things right now).
My medallions are at their end. I'm still quite happy with my dun and he's finally getting his eyes done... he would be done by now but my medium isn't allowing it. The arab... still having some issues with the
mane (as you can see I'm heading towards a muddy mess). Despite these challenges, I'm pretty pleased and I think I'm on the right track. This weekend is a holiday and I'm optimistic that this pair will be done by Monday and in the 'I Did It Too!' album!.
Meanwhile, Knickers and her draft buddy are doing alright. Knickers hasn't reached any critical points yet... but the draft *sigh* I need some tutorials on black manes. For
the arab too. But again, I'm optimistic that these two will be done before the end of the month... well, before next Friday. I'm shipping foals #1 & #2 with their moms down to Kentucky to be rebred, and I'll be there from Friday - Sunday... so I want to make sure that I'm done before then.
While my 4 models cure, I've been chipping away at my little foal series. I posted my first little purple Ichiban, but now I have completed Salem and Taiga as well. Unfortunately, #4 still hasn't arrived yet... so my series has been put on pause for the time being. Admittedly, it is quite relaxing to make these little paint sketches. I wonder if they are valid for the 'I Did It Too!' album... *ponders*.
The whole point of NaMoPaiMo is to challenge ones self when it comes to the finish work of model horses. For me, it's also inspired me to keep working, even on non model stuff. Now... if I can just sit still for my digital painting...
